Boschendal Nicolas is an exceptional blend showcasing how skilled craftmanship can create a masterpiece greater than the individual components on their own. On the nose red cherries, fresh plums, mulberries and cassis are complimented by pencil-shavings, dark chocolate and spicy cigar box flavours. The complex and luscious aromas follow though onto the palate confirming the quality. Whilst drinking excellently now, the Nicolas will develop further complexity with cellaring for up to 10 years. The Nicolas takes its name from one of Boschendal’s founding pioneers, Nicolas de Lanoy. He helped to lay an early foundation in the development of this iconic estate. Nicolas’ land was not always part of the property – after his death, it merged with the two adjacent farms to form Boschendal as it is known today. Like this layered blend, it is a farm founded from different parts of land that were once separate – but brought together to form a place of incredible beauty and charisma. This wine is dedicated to the winemakers of yesteryear who loved the vineyards as much as they loved sharing its wines with family and friends. Nicolas is a blend brimming with character, each component outstanding in its own right which together creates something exceptional. The blend is led by classical Bordeaux varietals giving structure, deep colour and vibrant fruit characteristics which are supported by spicy depth and intrigue from Shiraz –a signature variety for Boschendal.
